“The punk-rock era’s LAST WALTZ...assembled with Scorsese-like care....”

Boston Globe

The first in our summer film series in collaboration with LA Metro, we are pleased to present X: The Unheard Music (1986). The iconic L.A. band X changed the face of punk music with their vibrant, original style. We see the band at its peak in this legendary film, which took five years to make. As vital today as the day it was first released in 1986, "The Unheard Music" is preserved by the Sundance Collection as a "seminal independent film." This innovative and unconventional film puts us inside the world of X using a striking, visionary style reflecting the uncompromising passion and raw energy of their music. Includes 17 X classics from their critically hailed first four albums:  Los Angeles, Wild Gift, Under the Big Black Sun, and More Fun in the New World.

This critically-acclaimed documentary combines incredible live footage of the band with new and archival interviews with band members John Doe, Exene Cervenka, Billy Zoom and D.J. Bonebrake. Surreal music videos, newsreel footage and vintage television commercials are also interwoven into this most innovative rockumentary.

Metro Art Presents showcases an exciting array of arts and cultural programs at historic Union Station. All events are free and open to the public. For more information: metro.net/unionstationevents
