March 10: Mysterious Object at Noon
Apichatpong Weerasethakul (35mm, 85 min.)

Apichatpong Weerasethakul's debut feature film is a delightful mix of documentary, pseudo-documentary, and drama. The film's first layer comes from the free floating development of a story started by Apichatpong, and is continued by people the film crew meet as they travel Thailand from north to south.

Each new storyteller is allowed to pursue it from any angle, like the Surrealist Exquisite Corpses that inspired the project. The results were edited, along with footage of the lives of the people he met while traveling, into a film that plays with everything from traditional fiction to a documentary style used by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
