An Evening With Patrick Halm

Patrick Halm has been making films in Los Angeles for 15 years.  Influenced by poetry and symphonic music his non-narrative work is composed of image and idea fragments that reveal an invisible path concealed within memory, moment, and motion.  His work draws on a wide variety of recurrent themes such as outmoded history, subtleties of symbol, technology, the natural world, and the human desire to create.

Halm received a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School Of Design.  His work has screened in galleries and festivals in London, Berlin, Hamburg, Vancouver, and throughout the U.S.  He had his first one person show in 1999 at The Blinding Light Gallery Theater in Vancouver, BC. Canada.  Selected film works are distributed through Canyon Cinema in San Francisco.

“Above all, my films are intended to create a space where viewers can exercise their imaginations; to dislodge, unlearn, find freedom and ultimately gain access to the creative self.” – Patrick Halm

Tonight we'll be screening an array of Halm's recent work, and talk with
